We all know that Wikipedia is an overpriced monolith of an encyclopedia. When you look at the membership fees, it’s no small wonder this website hasn’t taken off yet.

I mean really, $100/mo for unlimited access to the encyclopedia “Anyone can edit?” $20000 for acaedmic institutions to purchase per-subject-matter collections for their students? Outrageous!

Luckily for us, this website has come to the rescue (never fear, there’s also coupons for vi and tr projects too!). Offering coupon codes for major discounts, it appears that someone is finally trying to help the little guy out there get access to the sum of all human knowledge. Good for them.

They don’t seem to be accepting new submissions though…wonder if someone down at the WMF didn’t want people getting cheaper access :)

…oh, wait…

(Thanks to David Gerard for pointing me to this blog post, hilarious)

UPDATE : A very good friend has proven again that the Internet is unforgiving. It remembers everything. Thanks to the Wayback Machine, we have an older version of said coupon site, when they actually had coupons listed! Since I now can, I’m treating everyone to Wikipedia access on my birthday ;-)
